Caroline and Tanner’s engagement session in New Orleans was nothing short of magical. We started at The Columns Hotel on St. Charles Avenue, an iconic landmark that oozes historic charm. With its rich architecture and intimate atmosphere, the hotel provided the perfect urban, moody, sultry backdrop for the first half of our session. The timeless feel of the space, paired with the couple’s natural chemistry, made each moment feel like a scene from a romance movie. Before heading out to our second location, I changed up my lighting technique. Using an off camera flash, I was able to capture an entirely different essence in the same location. I directed Caroline and Tanner saying, “pour each other some champagne and enjoy the moment” and “don’t be scared to get cozy” or “give me boss babes, but pleasant” and they clearly understood the assignment.
Caroline and Tanner did a quick outfit change, seamlessly transitioning the mood of the session. With a lighter, more playful vibe, we hopped on one of New Orleans’ famous streetcars. The streetcar ride was the perfect interlude between two gorgeous locations—its classic charm reflecting the city’s vibrant spirit made for the perfect photo op. There’s something whimsical about riding through the city on a streetcar, especially with a couple so in love. Caroline looked absolutely effortless as she cozied up next to Tanner and the smile never left his face.
Once we arrived at Audubon Park, the scenery went from moody and urban to whimsical and bright. Under the sprawling oak trees draped in Spanish moss, Caroline and Tanner’s love was straight out of a fairytale. The natural beauty of the park was the perfect setting for them to frolic, laugh, and share genuine moments of joy. They ran through the grass, spun in circles, and simply enjoyed the sweetness of being engaged. The golden light filtering through the oak trees cast a dreamy glow, creating soft and intimate images that captured both their love for each other and the city they will tie the knot in spring of 2025.
By the end of the session, it was clear that Caroline and Tanner’s love is as vibrant and timeless as the city itself. As a photographer, it was a joy to witness and document their connection against such stunning backdrops, and I can’t wait to be a part of their special day in just a few short months.
